My Wifely Shoes
I married young. Met the love of my life, Dan Miller, in 1966 and we have been married since 1968. I am very proud of the man in my life. He makes me want to be a better person. Dan is an author, motivator, coach, teacher and much more. I believe wholeheartedly he is the wisest man I have ever known. I love being married to Dan. You can read more about him at www.48Days.com.
My Momma Shoes
I have three grown children. Kevin lives in Colorado with his wife Teri and seven of our grandkids. Jared lives in Costa Rica with his wife Ilea and three of our grandkids. They also have an adopted son in Rwanda Africa. Ashley lives in Nashville with Nathan and their three active girls and my one grand-dog, Harley. All are happily married and living the entrepreneurial lifestyle. I am so grateful for the impact each of them has on the world at large.
My Yia Yia, Nana Shoes
Oh yes, I am Nana to half my grandkids and Yia Yia to the other half. Keeps me on my toes remembering who I am! There are 14 of them. From college age to infants. I so enjoy them all, each unique and amazingly creative.
My Writer’s Shoes
I am a born writer. I especially love to write with a good pen and paper but that’s a very hard way to write a book. So I resort to two computers, a PC, and a Mac. But I also keep my long-hand skills intact by sending personal cards, notes, and letters and maintain two pen-pals in different states. It is not unusual for me to stop midstream in whatever I am doing to sit at the computer or grab a piece of paper and write a blog, a poem, a thought or the beginnings of a new book.
My Author’s Shoes
I have a new book coming out in July 2016 titled, Creating a Haven of Peace, When You’re Feeling Down, Finances Are Flat, and Tempers are Rising. It’s on Amazon now for pre-order. Dan says this is my magnum opus… what I have been writing with my life for decades. I have another children’s book coming out in October 2016 titled What If It Were Possible? My 8-year-old granddaughter, Clara, co-authored and did all the illustrations for this sweet book on imagination.
Other books I have authored:
- Be Your Finest Art, Awaken Your Creative Self with co-author artist, Dorsey McHugh.
- Be Your Finest Art Creative Play and Journal.
- I Wanna Be® series based on personality styles of children. (I Wanna’ Be Me, When I Am Quiet, Pretty In Pink and I Know Who I Am!)
My Artist’s Shoes
I began drawing classes under the tutelage of a fine artist, Melanie Jackson in 2002 when I was experiencing a deep need to find myself. Taking that class changed my life. In 2011, I began painting with fine artist, Dorsey McHugh. I have had the privilege of showing and selling my art and each piece has a story or poem that compliments the image. I believe my painting and drawing stretches my creative right brain and makes me a more interesting person to be around while enhancing my writing ability.
My Teacher’s Shoes
I host a weekly art class called The Sanctuary Sessions. It is open to the beginner and the accomplished artist who might want to inspire us while connecting with a great bunch of ladies who want to dip into their right-brain! It is amazing to watch ladies come alive while discovering they have more ability than they dreamed possible. This is a great venue for gaining increased self-confidence, self-discovery and a much needed time to PLAY.
I teach a weekly Drawing Basics class for beginners and accomplished artists who might need to brush up on specific rules of drawing. This is an 8-week course that is on continual rotation. If interested, email me.
My Connector’s Shoes
I believe we all have a need for connection and no one I meet is simply random. I have had too many experiences where someone became a thread in the tapestry of my life through interconnection. Relationship is uppermost in my hierarchy of needs and I take friendship, mentoring and role-modeling very seriously.

depends not on what happens in the White House,
but on what happens inside your house.”
