Holmes County, Ohio is a photographer’s paradise. The predominantly Amish communities with barns, silos and large homes is a beautiful area. The exquisite gardens, flowers that defy wilt or weeds, and clotheslines filled with quilts, rugs, and plain clothing always catch my eye.
My husband’s heritage is Amish/Mennonite so we visited this area often. I loved seeing the incredible workmanship that goes into making quilts that last for generations. I was privileged to sit in on a few “quilting bees” where conversation centered around family and home and nimble fingers painstakingly hand-stitched every piece. I am also privileged to own a couple of these beautiful quilts.
