Summer brings bountiful color, texture and beauty to balmy days.  But the fragrance and beauty of geraniums offers more than just another blossom in the flower bed.

A big pot of geraniums evokes memories of Grandma, iced tea on the porch, butterflies and chirping birdsong.  A pot of geraniums often sat in striking splendor beside rocking chairs where neighbors visited on the veranda and caught up on all the latest news of births, engagements, weddings, graduations and what’s growing in the garden.

Geraniums have a wonderfully pungent odor that fills the air when you pass by.  Today they come in a variety of color but when one thinks of bygone days, it’s the pot of fragrant deep green and brilliant red that comes to mind.  Sweet memories!
