Standing Ground

Description

In grace and beauty

I run free.

With quiet dignity

beneath the trees.

In gentle spirit

my feet stand fast

As my spirit roams wild

through the distant past.

I stand my ground and watch for foe.

Fleet of foot

and eyes aglow.

Always alert

and prime for flight.

as nature enfolds me

throughout the night.

NOTE:

For the native tribes of North America, the deer was a messenger, an animal of power, and a totem representing sensitivity, intuition and gentleness.  The deer has strong ties to the forest and the Earth.
